My Story

After working over 15 years in the corporate world as a technical writer, I chose to become a full-time handyman after some life-changing experiences. In 2008 I left technical writing to work for Habitat for Humanity Austin as an AmeriCorps. And in 2009 I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail with my dog. Working outdoors in deconstruction and construction, and spending six months immersed in nature made it clear that I wanted a physically engaging livelihood with lots of variety. Although I returned to full-time technical writing in 2011, a seed had been planted.

Over the past 10 years I’ve built skills and experience to enable me to launch a full-time handyman business. I love meeting and getting to know my clients, the variety of work, the challenges of creating and repairing things, the opportunities to learn and build new skills, and the satisfaction of resolving your home repair and maintenance issues and helping you cross items off your to-do list. My goal is to exceed your expectations and I love when my clients can say “Austin Nailed It!”
